Coronavirus is a large family of viruses that cause respiratory infections such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-related Coronavirus (MERS-CoV). The latest Coronavirus and becoming a worldwide pandemic is now known as the 2019 Coronavirus Novel (COVID-19).

COVID-19 was first detected in China with the first case confirmed on January 7, 2020 in Wuhan, Hubei, China. Over the next three (3) weeks, cases were confirmed in Thailand, Nepal, USA, South Korea, Singapore, France, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Germany. The first case in Malaysia was confirmed on 25 January 2020.

Until now, COVID19 disease is still contagious in Malaysia. Since September 20, 2020, Malaysia has entered the beginning of the third wave of COVID-19 following the sharp increase in cases of COVID-19 virus infection. The Ministry of Health Malaysia and the authorities continue to carry out control and prevention programs and activities to curb the COVID-19 epidemic in Malaysia.
